My friend description

This year I met a friend name Lave. He’s my best friend.

He is kind and quiet.
He is fast and funny.
He alway be nice to me.
He is 11 years old and we are the same height.
He is smart and he always be good in class.
I like him and that why he is my best friend

My 2012 reflection

This year I am so glad that I came to this class . I like everything about this class But sometimes it boring but i still like it. The stuff that I like the most is doing math whizz, But I hate the most is writing and reading. We do writing or reading in the morning but afternoon we do maths. I like when its get to fridays because we can get to go play capture the flag or free time on our netbooks. This year I think I done good but next year i want to be better.


On the 2013 My goal is to be on my attitude. I want to work hard on my writing and reading.
Next I am gonna do harder than this year

Tana Writing

We had a nice day it was cool and fun. Our first activity was to do a christmas tree. We got put into groups. My group was group 4. It was hard because this was my first time making a christmas tree with paper strings and tape. After we made it we have to go into the streets and show it to the teachers. We came nowhere but we still had fun.   


On our second activity was the slingshot that was my favorite one. We had to make a ball with paper, then tape so it can make it tight .Then get the slingshot. Then we can shoot it, but some of the team have to go catch the ball when we shoot it. When you catch the ball you have a balloon but you need to catch three. But after we got three balloon but we still came second.

Once upon a time there was a man called Michael that went with his wife and his family to the bush.They went to the bush for a run.They had three children. There names were John, Vincent and Junior. The oldest was John, but the smallest was Junior. They were walking and talking. Afterwards they started to run. While they were running they forgot Junior. When they were running, Michael asked a question to Vincent “where is Junior?. Vincent said he was at the back of me but then he was gone.

So they all came back and look for Junior. When Junior knowed that he was by himself, he got scared, he sprinted to look for his family. But when he was running he tripped over and crack his head on the rock. He was lying down crying because his head hurts. When Michael, John and vincent were looking for Junior. John heard a voice off some crying and saying help. John knew that was Junior so he was sprinted and he saw Junior. John called out Dad I found Junior. John was like are you alright brother. Junior answered back Yea but i need to go to the hospital fast. So Michael called the ambulance. When the ambulance got there Junior’s mother was crying saying please take my son to the hospital fast. So they all rushed to the hospital. When they got there he went straight to the doctor. One hour later the doctor came outside and said he is ok but you have to look after him. So they all went back home and they lived happy ever after.

The sky was dim and the grass covered in dew. As two cousin were going to their uncle’s house they were moaning and complaining.  “I DON’T want to go there said Jacob “me too said’’  Vincent.

“I don’t like all the boards slapping,screeching noise,shafts of light and most of all it smells musty” said Jacob.Vincent didn’t like the fact that there uncle owned a barn.But they still got forced to  go to their uncle's barn.

Shivvers tingle down our spine while we explore the uncle’s mysterious barn. One animal was infected so we rushed to the opposite side to get away.It was the same on every side so straight away we knew that this was a trap.

The door slammed in our faces trapping us in. The only way out was to break through the window.Then Vincent quickly ran and grabbed a baseball bat and whacked it on the animals head so they can be die fast.

Heading to the window was hard because the obstacles. There were infected animals running around, It was like dodge ball.

The day at the beach. Narrative

It was a hot day, lots of people went to the beach to have a swim. They were jumping off the rocks to do bombs. But then this boy name John slipped over and cracked his head when he was trying to dive. His friend sprinted over and said, “Help my friend slipped over and cracked his head”.His parents called the ambulance to take him to the hospital.

His parents rushed in to visit him to see if he was ok.They were talking and eating. John said to his mum, I don’t want stay I am ok. So his mum asked the doctor if he can go home and he said yes.


When they got  back from the hospital. He was crying because his head still hurts. They were trying to cheer him up but he was still crying. A month later his head doesn’t hurt any more. He started to go play with friends again but never goes to the beach anymore.

Tana Cross country

When I was going for a run I got scared and I had butterflies because I might come last.Mr. Burt clapped the clappers and we started to run. When we started running the mud was splattering all over our t-shirts. I was making squelching sounds by putting my feet in the mud while I was trying to catch my breath. My leg muscles ached and it hurt but I still ran. I was jogging steadily gasping for my breath and I was so exhausted.  

When I made it to the bridge I said to myself, “this is more harder then I thought it was”. When I was running on the mud my shoe came off and my socks got wet. My feet were cold, I tried not to get cold but I slipped over and it got more cold. When i was running I saw Tevita, Melvin and Piri walking. I was sprinting to catch up to them and I did catch them. When I got there we talked and ran.  

We were running and then we started to split up. I was running thinking that I was going to come last at the cross country, but I still tried my best. When I saw the finish I sprinted fast so I wouldn’t come last. I did my best to support my group and I didn't come last.     

Tana and Tevita - Smoking is bad

Smoking is really disgusting and dangerous because it can cause many health problems. There are over 4000 harmful chemical in cigarettes. The three main disgusting chemicals in cigarettes are nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide. Tar is a disgusting brown sticky substance that causes nasty diseases. It can damage your lungs, brain, and heart. It can cause you to have a heart attack. The main thing I don’t like about smoking is that people can die and suffer. More than 4500 people in N,Z every year.


Smoking is also hard to quit because it is so addictive. When people first start smoking you get a sense of pleasure but if you try to quit it will be very hard. But if you stop smoking you will stress a lot because your body is craving for nicotine.



Teenagers start because they want to be cool like their friends. But if they keep smoking they will be addicted to the smokes. If teenagers smoke their mind says to smoke again. Teenagers need to be strong-minded and walk away.

If there is anybody out there thinking about starting smoking my advice is don't start.

Precious Mckenzie - Tana

Precious McKenzie was a well known as a NZ weightlifter but he wasn't really from NZ. He was born in 1936 in Durban South Africa. He is 1.45m tall. He got his name when he was baptized. His mother called him Precious One because he survived a fever that almost killed him.

In his early childhood his Dad died from a crocodile attack. Because of this his mother started drinking so her kids got taken off her. They were looked after by foster mothers. Unfortunately these families didn’t feed him well which is why he is so short.

Precious wanted to be in the circus because of his good gymnastic but he can’t because of his skin colour. So he went to weightlifting and he won the bantamweight title.

Precious Mckenzie was not selected for the Empire games olympic because of his skin colour. They refused to have equal rights players. So he went to England where he competed for England in the 1996 Commonwealth games and he won the Commonwealth Title.

Brown brother

Joshua Iosefo, a perfect at Mt Roskill Grammar,He had to deliver a speech to the school. Instead of a speech he wrote a poem titled “Brown Brother” Rashad post in an youtube where it care to the attention to Campbell live, who presented on national television.

This poem was about people that believe in stereotypes. Joshua tells the school to don’t be afraid to change don’t listen to stereotypes like limiting yourself. Not a change in skin tone or colour, but a change of one brown brother to another.

I felt really surprised because his poem is really good and nice. He talks about interesting stuff like skin tone stereotypes and more. We really appreciate his poem because it’s cool and fantastic.

Art Alive

Kiwi kick

As we walked over to the courts I could see the flags flapping heavily the leaves falling off the trees. My body was shivering and my teeth were chattering my hands were numb and I rubbed it fast so it could be warm. We met Sam and Anita which were the coaches they were teaching us how to play Kiwi Kick. We were at the courts they teach us some skills of Kiwi kick like drop punt high pass and chest pass that was some of the skills that they taught us. It was cool that we were going to Kiwi kick for another year. My favorite skill in Kiwi kick is the high pass because you get to jump and catch the ball.

The 2nd Week we learn how to drop punt in groups of 2 and it was hard . I always kick the ball on the wrong directions and my partner always runs for it .  We played a game that we have to roll the ball under the leg and I alway roll down the ball under my  friend's legs


The 3rd Week and that was my best week because we are learning my favorite skill and its called  high pass. We learned high pass and you have to have a partner. Your  partner has to hold the ball up and you have to run fast as you can and you have to jump high and catch it and it was hard. After we played a game that you have to go in teams and you have to throw the ball to the other team. Our team won and we struggle how to do it but it was still nice.

Tana Matisse and Picasso

Picasso & Matisse
Picasso and Matisse were two famous painters. They were  friends when they met at a Paris artist school. Matisse was born on December 31st , 1869 at Northern France. Picasso was born on October 25th , 1881 at Malaga Spain. In 1973 Picasso died on the month of April. Matisse died in the age of 84 becoming recognized as a modern artist. One of Matisse’s famous paintings is called ‘Woman with a Hat. Picasso had a famous painting  named The Weeping Woman. I am going to compare and contrast these two paintings.



Although both Picasso's Weeping Woman and Matisse’s Woman with a Hat are portraits of Women they have different themes. The theme of Picasso's  Weeping woman is war. It is showing suffering, anguish and sadness.  Matisse’s mood of drawing is neutral, not sad and not happy. He was  experimenting with colours and a style of painting called fauvism.


Picasso and Matisse used bright  but different colours. Picasso main colours are red, orange and yellow. But he also used green. They are strong colours.  Picasso and Matisse both used unrealistic colours. Matisse used different colours to show shading.


Matisse and Picasso have got different kinds of outline and style. Picasso’s painting has got strong bold outlines and they are dark. Picasso has got two view points but Matisse has got one.  Matisse showed his shapes through different colours.

Both Picasso and Matisse were good famous artists .Their paintings are known all around the world.

Ben Carson

mother dropped out of school 3th grade

Ben Carson was born in Detroit, Michigan. Sonya, his mother, dropped out of school in the 3rd and was married when she was only13. Unfortunately when Ben was only 8, his parents got divorced . This made life very difficult because Sonya was left to raise the boys by herself. she worked 2-3 jobs at a time to provide for them.

Ben Carson was dumpiest in is class but her mother Sonya turn there life around and made them read two library books a week. Her mother made them do there home work first then watch T.V or play outside and give her report on their reading even though, with her own poor education, she could  barely read what they had written. Within a thew weeks, Carson astonished his classmates by rocks that his teacher brought but in his class know one know what’s the rock name but Carson recognized
that rock from a book that read.  That time he didn’t recognized that he’s stupid he recalled later
Carson continued  to amazed his classmates with his new found knowledge and within years Carson became the top of the class.


One year Carson can read voraciously on all subject. He is determined to become a physician so he had learn how to learn how to control his violent temper. After he graduating high school, he attend Yale university where he earned a degree in psychology. From Yale, he went to medical school of university of Michigan, where he shift psychiatry neurosurgery. His excellent hand eye coordination made him a superior surgeon. After medical he went neurosurgeon at world famous hospital name John Hopkins hospital Baltimore. At age 32 he became hospital directer and he was smart person that he became Pediatric Neurosurgery. In 1987 Carson made medical History. He Siamese twins separate he’s a smart person. The Siamese twins was born joined in the back of there head. When Carson was separating the twins he was scared and all of them had goose pump but at the last pit Carson saved the twins and he became famous.

Tana Matisse

Henri Matisse i s an artist. He was a born on dec the 31th in 1835 at Northern France. His parents worked genral store. He study law part. In 1889 Matisse  returned law office.Unfortunately he graduated Appendicitis surgery.One day Her mom gave him a paint box To make his life enjoy full. When he was a 21 years old he decided to become an artist. In 1891 he went to a Paris art school. One day the teacher said to Matisse never learn to fly but he Determined to succeed. He paint exhibited painting. One year Matisse learned a painting technique is paper cut out. In this other day  he got ill of charcoal bamboo and got died in 1954 leader mordern art.

About me

I am a Samoan boy. I am a boy who likes playing rugby. At Samoa it is very hot and it does not rain. I like reading book too. I am not good at English but I’m good at Samoa. But when I came to New Zealand, three weeks ago  I feel so cold and I  went to a new school named Pt England. At  my new school I am in year 7 my teacher name is Ms. Squires. I am eleven years old and I am living with my uncle. I like where I am living and my school good bye.

The Starry Night Prince, Tevita and Tana

Vincent Van Gogh Is famous because he painted over 900 painting. In his painting called Starry night it shows village beside some hills. It is one of his most famous paintings. The sky also look likes an ocean because his technique was to use bold and thick dark outlines and swirls. He has rough brushstrokes to show shimmering stars.
 

The best camp

At our camp we went to the pools and it was cool. When we were at the pools we did some bombs. Our group came third at the camp concert but we did our best. We did amazing race and we came fourth. We had  breakfast.  Every morning we did jump jam. We always went to pools and we went kayaking I always fell down when I went on the canoe but some time I dont fell down. When It is the last day we went to swimarama and that time I cant wait to go to swimarama it is cool as.



The camp was so cool. We went to swimarama and we had morning tea at swimarama and we had lunch at swimarama I had a nice time at the pool. We saw the warrior at the pool and everybody screaming saying warrior warrior. When every body was looking at the warriors me and Niuma went to the diving pool and made some bombs. I went to sliding and slide down and I was scared but after It was cool as so went again and again. we had a nice time I was the first one to get wet. These is my best camp.

 

The Amazing race

Sitting in the marquee with my group, I was eagerly waiting for Mr Barks to tell us what the Amazing race was all about. The Amazing race was one of our camp activities. Mr Barks explained, “There are 3 tasks and you have to work as a team to earn points along the way.” The first activity was making a slingshot.  Joe and I were making the slingshot but Tevita and Unaloto were making the missile. Our slingshot always broke but Joseph’s group made points for our team because they made a good slingshot. When we finished making our slingshot we had to go and shoot to the bucket. We aim carefully to the bucket and we got the bucket that it is 50. It is hard to shoot the missiles to hit the bucket. Because the wind was too strong it made the missiles go off track. It was frustrating because it was windy and we have to finish the slingshot by five minute.  

Daniella Hulmes

Danella hulme is a NZ artist whose artwork ‘’Abundance is inspired by the Pacific Island. She Incorporates flowers , fruits the sea and islands in this painting. Her style is smooth and simplistic. The use of vibrant colours conveys a mood of happiness.
