2013 Net book highlights

 

   Having a net book connected to the internet is awesome. It helped me so much. I can write stuff faster than using a pencil, search up the meaning of the words that I don’t know and I can share my work with my friends or the teacher. You can email your teacher what's the task for the day, if there absent and we can post our writings on our own blogs. Our teacher  can  see us on his device, what we're working on  and  if were on the right path.

   Its helps me do my basic facts faster by doing my xtramath and if you don't know what it means, it is a math program online that our whole class go on it to learn our basic facts faster. When I need help on my maths, I go to my tracking my success, a site that our teacher created to show the highlights of our learning and it has videos that helps us to do new year strategies. I’ve also learn to read better because there lot of sites that you can read online like Kiwi kids new, Nz herald and there are lots more. We also go on a program called math whizz. Math whizz helps me to learn new stuff on maths and it makes our brain work faster.

  If we didn't have any netbooks our learning we be slowing down and lot of us won't know that much words. I'm glad  that I came to this school where we learn with net books.

 

Yr 8 camp 2013 highlights

On Tuesday the 3rd we had camp for just the Yr8 at Rotorua. We camped in a place called kiswick. We left school at 9am. It was a long ride, most of us went to sleep. It took like 3 hours to get their. We stop two times because the bus driver has to have a rest. It was a long ride but then finally we got their. Going through Rotorua finding our way to keswick with the smell like raw eggs.

My favourite highlight of the camp was going on the luges ride with me Dillon, Crusader,Richard and Jaylee blocking the way and bumping into each others. My other highlight of the camp was hanging out with my mates.

My low point of the camp was walking up the mountain, with the weather spitting and waking up early to go for a run.

Inter Zones, Athletics 2013

On Friday November the 29th Ms Vaafusuaga took us to the Eastern Zone held at the lloyd Elsmore Pakuranga park to compete in the Inter zone athletics. We took the yr8 and the y7 boys and girls that came first in the school athletics and I was one of them. I Made into shot put. We had to pick up the Tamaki primary people that made it because they didn't have a bus.

We had some helpers like (Ms V) Lorenzo and Ms Takere. It was a very hot day. All the boys were playing with sunscreen squeezing lots into our hands and squeezing it around. When we got there we had to set up the tie pole and look for a good spot. Finally it was time for my event.  

We have 3 throws each. My first throw was average, my second throw sucks and my last throw is the one that made me come first. I was so happy. After the whole Athletics I came first in shot put the yr8 boys came first in relay and we came back happily.

Writhing Sample 2013 Term 4

Once upon time at a far, far village called Papakura, their lived a boy name Ben and a father named John. They lived in a tiny house with no tv ,no food and no money. They were the poorest in the village. Him and his dad does the papers to get money . People laughs at them, teased them and worst they throw rubbish at their house.

Then one night Ben and John went to do the papers. They were doing it normal walking slowly, then suddenly they heard a whisper from the bushes it whispered again and again and again. John said to his son ‘’hurry hurry I think their someone following us’. They started walking faster then suddenly someone just jumped out of the bush and started to  chase them.

They ran as fast as they can with the papers falling down.  John was starting to get tired. ‘Come’ said  Ben, then his father said ‘’you run i will take care of the person that is coming’. Ben started to run. The men caught up to John.

John hitted him with the papers then he tackled him to the ground, but the man just pushed him of. Then from nowhere the man pulled a gun out to shoot him but lucky Ben knocked him out with a rock on his hand. John said to his son ‘’I thought I told you to run’ Ben ‘’said its better together’.They laughed and they took the criminal to the police station and they rewarded one thousand dollar and they live happily ever after.

My first day of School

My first day of school I was nervous, shy and angry. My school name was Peace Chapel. I hopped into the car having butterflies. It was a long ride, but finally we got there. ‘’Tana  were their’ said my mum. Walking to the door feeling like I was gonna walk to a room with snakes and monsters. My mum opened the door to enter the school with all the people staring at us with me hiding at the back of my mum. I was shy as.

My mum took me to my class. I was holding to my mum’s hand hard like I was gonna fall down from a helicopter. I was scared as. Walking into the class like a robot with fear. My teachers name was Moana. I had to introduce myself. After i introduced myself. My mum was gonna go back home because she has to get ready for work. She  kissed me on the chick and she ‘’said bye son’.

I was crying not wanting her to leave me. My teacher was trying  to make me not cry by giving me lollies and saying ‘’its al right she's coming back after’’.  My teacher was kind to me. She said ‘your first day of school will be just playing’’. She was kind to me.

I was in the play ground then suddenly the bell rang, my teacher came upto  me and  said ‘school is finish’’. ‘Yes’ I said to myself. I was waiting for my mum, then Finally i saw her. I  ran up to her like a cheetah feeling so happy that the school is finish. After school my mum bought me a feed and wented back home.

All Blacks vs France Nov 10 2013

All blacks vs France with a fiercely contested match at Paris. They started the game with no tries just penalty goals by Daniel Carter just trading goals with Morgan Parra, the first 5 for  France. It was 9/9 on the first half. Then suddenly on the last half, All blacks comebacks with two tries by Kieran Read and Charles Piutau. But France hits back, with a line break by the full back that gave them a try. The points were 19 / 26. But the All Blacks defended them properly, till to the end and they won the game with the final points 19 / 26. All Blacks waiting for their next match against England.

The best day of my holiday

This morning we had 40 minutes to write anything we wanted. From this we are going to set some writing goals for the Term Here is what I wrote

On the holidays October 10th Thursday it was my Birthday. I woke up in the morning i walked into the bathroom to wash my face forgetting that it was my birthday, suddenly from out of no where my cousins yells ‘happy birthday Tana ‘.

I was so excited. My cousins took me to paint ball, my brother bought me a Rabbitohs jersey,my Uncle gave me money and my favourite, my Parents bought a massive feed. After all they sang the birthday song for me and we ate all together after. It was one of the best day of my life

The things that I like about my writing is that I'm using speech marks and my sentences making sense.

My goal for my writing is having interesting vocabs and showing not tell.

I done 6x40=240 and 6x3=18.  Then I added together and I  got my answer 258

Yr6 - 2

This is my D.L.O. This is a strategy that I used to fix this problem. 78 divide by 6. I done six groups then I splitted the 78 to tens, then I putted each tens in the 6 groups and the total was 60. Then I took away 60 from 78 and I got 18 leftover. Then I divided 18 by 6 and I got the answer 3. Then I plus the 10 and the 3 to get my answer 13. That how I worked it out.

Rainbow Warrior Bombing

One night in 1985, on July the 10th, Greenpeace people were celebrating the director of the anti-nuclear movement’s 29th birthday on the Rainbow Warrior. While they partied, two French man, in scuba gear, attached two limpet bombs to the bottom of the boat. ‘Boom boom’ exploded the bomb ‘Abandon ship Abandon ship’! said  Peter Willcox. Tragically the bomb killed one crew member. His name was Fernando Pereira

The French spies were working for the French government. Their mission was an undercover operation to explode the Rainbow Warrior, so they can stop them protesting about the nuclear testing in the South Pacific. 720 people got affected by the French people testing nuclear bombs around the Islands. People got cancer and their babies got deformities.  

Two of the spies got arrested by the police. They had to go to prison for 10 years, but the French government told them to bring the two to their prison or they won’t buy their dairy and other products. That was a lot of money that New Zealand were going to lose so they released the spies and spies went back to France.

Cross country 2013

On Thursday we had cross country. Tamaki service came to support us. We had to do 2 laps. They were doing by their years old but the 7&8 were doing it by the classes. Like the whole year 7 run there own and the whole year 8 do their own to. It took for ages waiting for the other class to finish but finally it was the year 8 boys turn.

When we walked up to Mr Burt I had butterflies i felt sick. We had to stay in a line and we had to wait for Mr Burt to say go. All of the boys were getting ready. Finally Mr Burt ‘said’ ‘get on your mark get set go’’”””””.

Suddenly we started running. All i can feel is the mud splashing into the back of my pant, my shoes covered with mud and a squeaking sound when I step into the mud. I was tired my legs muscle felt like it was gonna explode, it was even harder than i thought. I was so exhausted but i was still running.

Me and my friend Richard was running together. All i was thinking about was the cross country  finish. Finally I finished my 1st lap now I have to do the 2nd lap. I was so tired and i was still running together with Richard. I was running walking running and walking. I was exhausted  

Finally I can see the finish line. I was running fast as to finish it. But my paste started to go slow. I was jogging toward the finish line and all i can hear is people ’saying’ ‘go Tana and Richard’. Finally i finished it. Richard bate me but i was happy that i finished it. I was so tired. I went home and had a shower. I was proud of myself.

Movie Refection

I like Antonio, Anthony and Texas movie,the funny part is how they cut there hair and I like their acting.

My negative things is how they sing and the song was too loud and we can’t hear them. My second negative thing is they do the same shots all over again and the camera keep on moving.

Waitangi Treatment

The treaty of Waitangi was first signed on 6 February 1830.The Treaty is an agreement, in Maori and English, that was made between the British Crown and about 540 Maori Rangatira chiefs. Growing numbers of British migrants arrived in New Zealand in the late 1830s, and there were plans for extensive settlement.

Maori people sold the land to the British people for Blankets,shelter and tobacco. So Maori tribes will each all have a say to agree on selling the land or not. After all that they signed the Treaty agreement, the Maori and British agreed and they all lived peacefully

Maths goal for Term 3

My maths goal for next term is decimals and Fractions, because I always have trouble on those two. I need to talk more to the teacher when i need some help and also i need to do my work before wandering somewhere else.

Once upon a time there was boy named Ben, he lived in a city called Auckland. He’s 12 years old, he’s the only one in his family. He likes wearing a blue hood.

He was a stubborn little boy he would never listen to his parents they had to bribe him by giving him treats so that he would do what he was told. One day his parents told him to go and visit his grandfather in Henderson to help him to fix his car.. Ben biked 200 k's.

Ben was biking for about 2 hours but then a car came over and asked him where he was going. Ben said“  I'm going to my grandfather’s house”. The man said wanna go for a ride to your grandfather house on my car. Then suddenly Ben remembered the face of the person that came on the news, that was a criminal. So Ben slowly moved to the bike that was on the ground ,Once

Ben got to his bike he                                                                                                                                                       slowly picked it up then when the man looked away to see who was making that loud noise. Ben just hopped on his bike and he disappeared like a wind. The man got on his car and tried to catch up to Ben.

But Ben was too fast. Ben finally saw his grandfather’s house he hopped off his  bike and he ran to the house and shut the door fast. Ben was looking for his grandfather, but the suddenly he saw him fixing the car. Ben went and told his grandfather. His grandfather rang the cop. The cops came and caught the criminal and afterwards, Ben finally goes and help his grandfather fix the car and lived happily ever after.                         

Kiti and beanstalk

One day there was a boy called kiti he has a poor family. He and his little tribe were going to a rich village called Rangitoto , he went to explore his new village and he saw an old lady who trades magic beans. That old lady was the giants mother and they did not know. He went and asked the old lady how much it costs. The old lady said it costs 10 gold tokens for one, he traded with the old lady. The old lady said go plant it and when it finishes growing, climb it and when you reach the top  there will be lots of gold at the top.

Kiti went home and planted it. He went to sleep but in the middle of the night he suddenly woke up because he heard lots of sounds, he came outside to see what was happening then he saw his beans that grew he looked at it and said “thats massive’’. Then he went and told the whole village.   

Kiti climbed up the the beanstalk, it took him one whole day to climb it and finally he reached the top. He saw a light, it glowed and then suddenly he heard a big giant saying “you just got fooled”. Kiti and the giant had a fight, Kiti then got knocked out onto the ground. The giant then killed Kiti by eating him for dinner. You could hear Kiti’ yelling and screaming from inside the giants stomach..
